Lillian Loves Large Shoes

My dad doesn’t really understand a girl’s relationship with shoes.

Lillian’s Grandma Peggy and Grandpa Keith came down for a visit on Saturday. They had a great visit. Peggy took some pictures and wrote:

Thought all of you might enjoy the pictures we snapped of Lillian on Saturday.  She loves the camera!  Loves to smile when she sees the light on the flash start blinking… heads right to the lens so you don’t miss her!  She also loves shoes (especially any that are bigger than hers) and the plastic box you see is her favorite musical instrument!

She is soooo… cute… of course we are a just a little prejudiced!

Her Grandpa John, who is completely objective and un-prejudiced, agrees.

That’s my drum. I play for the downstairs neighbors as often as I can.

Update on Ashley: New Brain Tumor (7/29)

Ashley

Ashley went in for another PET scan at Oncology Consultants. Her blood tests showed a suspicious protein level that’s often a marker of new tumor outbreaks. The only way to see what’s actually going on is with a scan. Since the drug she is on is a new one, getting the insurance to pay for the scan was a battle — one in which we scored only a partial victory: cancer ain’t cheap, even with insurance!

The first attempt at a scan on Thursday was not successful: Ashley’s got very difficult veins (she’s known as “the girl with no veins”); after 15 attempts to get the IV in to inject the dye, she’d had enough. She went back this morning when the nurse who specializes in difficult sticks was there: she got it in on the first try, and Ashley got her scan.

The scan showed that she has a new, small tumor in her brain, about the size of a finger tip; there are no other tumor outbreaks in her body. She is going to see the radiologist at Methodist Hospital tomorrow or Wednesday, and should have it zapped on Thursday or Friday.

We’d appreciate your prayers!

Cooling Off Again

Relaxing

It’s July in Houston and it’s hot. (You could say that about April, May, June, August, September and October in Houston, too. And sometimes the rest of the months, too.) Lillian likes water, whether it’s in the pool, in a dog’s bowl, in the rain, in a puddle — if it’s wet, she will find it.

At the Top of the Stairs

Top of the world!

Lillian loves to climb stairs. She spent a couple of hours at the park going up and down the stairs on playground equipment.

Helping Mom at the Grocery 2

Hey, mom, let’s go find the ice cream section!

If I don’t guide the cart, Mom will probably run over someone.
